This fall, I'll be sharing practical applications to help you live yoga on and off your mat so you can feel grounded, devoted, and joyful in every season.
For now, there is still summer to practice.
Practice Summer
Stay present to the season nature is still in. I know it’s been cooler here in Northwest, but many of you in the Midwest and East are still enjoying warmer days. Let yourself linger here a little longer.
Eat
Choose cooling foods like melons and cucumbers to help release accumulated summer heat.
Move
Stay active outdoors in your garden, hiking, or going to the water. On your mat, explore cooling and expansive postures, such as gentle side bends.
Rest
Micro-doses of rest are especially important when the longer days invite more activity. Take five quiet minutes somewhere in your day. Sit and notice your body. Let your breath breathe itself into a natural, balanced rhythm of inhale and exhale.
Relate
September is "Mom’s summer” as my friend Laura calls it. The kids are back at school, and the pace can shift. Take advantage of this limited time and plan to connect with a friend.
As we move toward fall, these simple seasonal practices become pathways into deeper work of learning to listen to your body, tend to your nervous system, and meet each season of life with greater awareness. How you end one season determines how you enter another.
